DUBLIN, Ireland: A man from Cavan has admitted that he killed his mother and tried to kill his father at their family home in January 2025.
Danny Heyneman appeared in the Central Criminal Court on April 27. A prosecutor said he faced two charges.
The 32-year-old, who lives in Kilnavart, Ballyconnell, pleaded guilty to murdering his mother, Annie Heyneman, at their home on January 11, 2025. He also admitted trying to murder his father, Henk Heyneman, at the same place on the same day.
The prosecutor said the court would need victim impact statements.
His lawyer asked that reports on his education and behavior in prison be prepared. He also said the defense plans to use parts of an earlier psychiatric report during sentencing.
The judge set May 19 as the date for sentencing. On that day, the court will hear more details about the case and the victim's impact statements. The judge also ordered the preparation of the reports.
