BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Veteran Argentine forward Mauro Zarate has returned to Italy to play with Serie B side Cosenza Calcio.

The 35-year-old will be tied to the Calabrian outfit until June 30 after parting ways with Buenos Aires-based club Platense.

"Mauro Zarate is a Cosenza player," read a statement on the club's website, which added that the deal was struck on the last day of Italy's winter transfer window.

Zarate, a former Argentina U-20 player, has had previous spells in Italy with Lazio, Inter Milan and Fiorentina.

Cosenza are currently last in the 20-team Serie B standings with just five wins from 22 games this season.
