London, Jul 3 : Italian born actress Greta Scacchi, who posed naked with a cod as part of a campaign to save the world's fish stocks, has said that it takes a celebrity to get the Government to take notice of a cause.

Scacchi, 49, was left bemused to have been invited to talks at the Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs with Huw Irranca-Davies, the Environment Minister, as the Marine Bill makes its way through Parliament.

"A part of me has to take a step back and say that while it is wonderful to be given this kind of access it does say something about the state of our democracy that it takes a so-called celebrity such as myself to get coverage for a cause and for the Government to sit up and take notice," the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

The actress, who was accompanied by Charles Clover, who produced the documentary 'The End of the Line', warning about the threat to fish, said that the meeting with Irranca-Davies was "constructive and helpful".
